Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®

Renew Your PMI-CAPM Certification

To maintain your Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification, you must renew it every three years by fulfilling the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) set by the Project Management Institute (PMI). This process ensures that you stay current with evolving project management practices and continue to demonstrate your professional competence.

Renewal Requirements

Earn Required PDUs (Professional Development Units):
To renew your CAPM® certification, you must earn 15 PDUs within your three-year certification cycle. PDUs can be earned through learning, professional experience, or contributing to the project management community. Activities may include attending courses, webinars, workshops, conferences, or volunteering on project management initiatives.

Submit Your PDUs:
Log in to your PMI account and submit your earned PDUs through the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) Dashboard on PMI’s official website. Ensure that all activities are properly documented and meet PMI’s renewal criteria.

Pay the Renewal Fee:

  • For PMI Members: USD 60

  • For Non-Members: USD 150
Payment can be made online through the PMI portal once your PDUs are approved.

Maintain Active PMI Membership (Optional but Recommended):
PMI membership provides access to free or discounted courses, webinars, study materials, and project management resources. It also makes earning PDUs easier and helps you stay current with industry best practices.

Renewal Timeline

You can start submitting Professional Development Units (PDUs) at any time during your three-year CAPM® certification cycle. It is recommended to complete all required 15 PDUs before your cycle end date to avoid suspension or expiration of your CAPM credential

Why Renewal Matters

Renewing your CAPM® certification is essential to keeping your project management knowledge current and aligned with evolving industry standards. It demonstrates your commitment to continuous learning and professional growth, which employers highly value. An active certification enhances your credibility, ensures access to PMI resources, and provides networking opportunities. Allowing your certification to lapse may require retaking the exam or completing additional requirements, which can be time-consuming and costly. Timely renewal safeguards your credential, supports your career advancement, and maintains your professional standing in the project management community.
