What if failed ?
If you fail the PgMP exam, you can retake it up to three times within your one-year eligibility period. If you fail all three attempts, you must wait one year from your last exam date before reapplying. Review your performance report to identify weak domains such as Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement, and Governance. Focus your study plan on these areas using updated PgMP guides, mock tests, and timed practice exams to strengthen your understanding and improve your readiness for the next attempt.
Steps to take after failing
Download and study your exam report — it contains domain-level diagnostics. Use those weak domains as your priority list.
Target the PgMP domains: Strategic Program Alignment; Program Life-Cycle Management; Benefits Management; Stakeholder Engagement; Governance. Focus study time proportionally to the exam weighting.
Revise your study plan: map each low-scoring domain to specific references (The Standard for Program Management, PgMP ECO), targeted study sessions, and practice-question sets or full-length timed mocks.
Practice under exam conditions to build pacing and confidence; re-take only when your mock scores consistently meet your target.
